This was also in 2011. We had heard of the spanking new DoubleTree by Hilton and wanted to try it out to see if the quality is up to mark for when we need to organize our company events / meetings / workshops and perhaps too to accommodate our foreign guests who often visit us.
The meeting rooms were nicely equipped with all the facilities you may require, the staff accommodating and the packages offered were quite competitive.
The rooms are perfect as a business hotel, with all the modern facilities so that one can actually activate one's office from there! Interesting what they've done with the shower as a conversational piece.
The pool was fairly nice but if only it was a little more "private." It can be seen at all angles from the many function rooms... one might feel like being in an aquarium. The gym was adequately equipped but we didn't have time to try out the spa. Maybe next time!
However, what we enjoyed the most was the buffet spread throughout the day. That was about the only time that we wished we had bigger tummies to accommodate the varied types of cuisines offered. Western, Eastern, Indian, Malay, Chinese, you name it, they have it. The spread was indeed plentiful and sumptuous! The only setback was that the menu was somewhat repeated the next day - but since it was a huge spread, we got to try other dishes we couldn't the night before!
The only thing that perhaps required improvement was the front desk service - they need to speed up on attending to the guests. Perhaps the staff were still new but nothing that a stringent process and training can't help. :)
Nevertheless, all in, the stay was memorable enough for us and we kept going back for our various workshops sessions.
Did I mention that you get warm cookies upon checking in? Mmmmm....
